If you could solve any global problem in the world with AI, what would it be?

Given the current situation my main interest is on solving climate issues and building a safe, sovereign and democratic Europe for the future.

What do you think are the 3 most important things for business in relation to AI at the moment?

At the moment it is unclear what AI-based systems are acceptable from the ethical, legal and social points of view and where the limits are. It is also still unclear what conditions/circumstances these systems would become acceptable under. This can lead to excess use of AI (for example using too many systems in too many situations, without keeping the possible consequences in mind) and/or not enough use (for example not using AI due to insufficient knowledge or fear of the consequences) . Both excess use and insufficient use of AI technology can have unknown consequences in every domain when protecting the freedom and safety our planet and society.

What do you see as the 3 most important things for humanity in relation to AI at the moment?

The principles of ‘AI for good: co-creation, contestability by design’ and transparency are the cornerstones of Human Centric AI applications.

How do you think AI will make its biggest mark in the next 5/10/20 years?

Synthetic Biology, creating food in a sustainable way.

What advice would you give executives as they determine how best to employ AI across their business?

Not only focusing on AI use in Web 2.0, but also thinking about using AI in Web3/Metaverse.

What's driving today's progress in AI?
Smart people, stimulation environment, Co-creation and money

What will take AI capabilities to the next level?

Societal challenges such as we now see around climate and the energy transition, but also the war will give an impulse to a different mentality, which can speed things up. Also in the field of AI.

What two people do you admire most in the world of AI in terms of their work?

Stef van Grieken
Max Welling

Why did you choose to present at the WSAI series this year?

Could I say no? Haha of course I want to join the summit. It's fantastic to see the AI ecosystem together and to inspire each other..

What are your personal goals from the Summit?

Ensure that as many people as possible make the right new contacts. Show the international network what we are doing in the Netherlands. Finding new partners for the ELSA labs. Web3 and the Metaverse on the agenda, ….

What are you most excited about taking part in the WSAI series?
Ultimately it's about people. And I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of fun, socially involved and smart people.
