Ahead of World Summit AI Americas (24th-24th April 2024, Palais de congrès de Montréal, Montréal), we asked Rodrigo Scotti, Founder and CEO of Nama, his thoughts on the future of AI.

If you could solve any global problem in the world with AI, what would it be and why?

Harnessing the world's information and transforming it into structured knowledge would be my choice. This would enable the creation of advanced platforms that facilitate a deeper collective wisdom within society.

What do you think are the 3 most important things for businesses in relation to AI at the moment?

From my perspective, the three crucial aspects for businesses regarding AI are:
1- Maintain calm – AI is currently the most discussed topic in the tech business sphere, and it will inevitably integrate into our daily operations. 2
- Be pragmatic – set clear goals and start with manageable projects. AI alone won't solve all problems;it's merely a tool that should be utilized as such.
3- Focus on constants – identify what AI will not alter within your business and enhance these aspects to maximize value for your clients or users.

What do you think are the 3 most important things for humanity in relation to AI at the moment?

For humanity, the three pivotal considerations regarding AI are:
1- We're entering an exciting era where we can address challenges and scale solutions in ways previously limited by human capacity.
2- We're uncovering fundamental patterns in the "math of everything," offering new insights into ourselves and our universe.
3- AI serves as a foundation for future, more significant, and impactful technologies. It's crucial to navigate this period thoughtfully to manage even more potent technologies in the future.

How do you think AI will make its biggest mark in the next 5, 10, 20 years?

AI's influence will span numerous areas, not confined to a single breakthrough. I am particularly interested in how it will revolutionize interfaces for our information systems. Beyond facilitating conversational and humanized interactions with our tools and data, AI will act as a catalyst for creativity in future generations.

Which 2 people do you admire most in the world of AI in terms of their work?

I admire Geoffrey Hinton for his resilience and pivotal contributions to deep learning, earning him the title of "the father of deep learning." Additionally, Gordon Pask, a pioneering cybernetics scientist, has significantly influenced our understanding and development of human-machine interactions.

What are you most excited about taking part in the WSAI Series?

It's an honor to be invited to speak at such a prestigious event, presenting our work to an elite community. What excites me the most is the opportunity to learn from peers during this pivotal moment for AI, sharing insights and innovations in a field that is continuously evolving.
